Introduction
Image slides turn every slide into a single AI-generated image, with the text built into the picture. The result is a visual, poster-style gamma rather than a layout of separate text and image blocks. In documents, the same feature is called Image pages. Image slides were previously called Studio mode. It's nearly the same feature with a new name.
🌀 Insight: Image slides work best for visual, image-led presentations, social posts, and short documents like invites or flyers.
Step 1: Start in the chat
Open Gamma 5 and describe what you'd like to make in the chat.
Step 2: Open the images dropdown
Click the images dropdown in the chat, then select Image slides. If you're creating a document, this option appears as Image pages.
Step 3: Generate
Send your prompt. Gamma creates each slide or page as a single image.
🔷 Note: Image slides is an opt-in setting. Gamma 5 won't use it unless you select it from the images dropdown.
How to Use Image Slides in the Classic Generator
Step 1: Open the classic generator
On your Gamma dashboard, click Use classic generator, then select Generate.
Step 2: Choose your format
Select Presentation or Social.
Step 3: Turn on Image slides
Click the slide design mode dropdown (it shows Classic by default), then select Image slides.
Step 4: Choose how much text you want
Under the prompt box, select Just vibes, Minimal text, A little context, or Plenty of text.
Step 5: Generate
Describe what you'd like to make, then click the blue Generate outline button.
Editing Image Slides
Image slides have limited editing options. Since each slide is a single image, you can:
Ask Agent to edit the image: describe what you'd like changed, and Agent regenerates the slide. Each regeneration creates a new image, so it uses credits again.
Edit the text: click Edit text on any slide to pull the built-in text out into editable text boxes over the image.
🔷 Note: You can't move, resize, or restyle individual elements, change layouts, or swap out images on an Image slide. If you need that kind of flexibility, create your gamma without Image slides so text, layouts, and images stay separate and fully editable.
How Image Slides Use Credits
There's no per-slide charge. You only pay for the images, one per slide or page.
Each image costs credits based on your image model.
Regenerating a slide or requesting an edit with Agent creates a new image, so it uses credits again.
FAQs & Common Issues

In Gamma 5, open the images dropdown in the chat. Image slides is an opt-in option there.
In the classic generator, click Use classic generator, then Generate, choose Presentation or Social, and open the slide design mode dropdown.

In the classic generator, the feature works for presentations and social posts only.
Can I use Image slides to create an ebook or workbook?
We don't recommend it. Every page becomes a single image, so your text won't be editable as text.
For ebooks, workbooks, and guides, use Document format without Image pages so your text stays fully editable.
Can I edit the text on an Image slide?
Yes. Click Edit text on the slide to pull the text into editable boxes over the image.
