Introduction
Gamma allows you to easily share your docs, decks, and sites with others. Whether you need to collaborate with teammates or share a read-only link, Gamma’s sharing settings help control who can view, comment, or edit your content.

How to Share a Gamma
Click the Share button at the top right of the screen.
Choose the access level:
No access - Users cannot view, comment, or edit.
View - Users can view, but not comment or edit.
Comment - Users can view and comment, but not edit.
Edit - Users can view, comment, and edit.
Copy the sharing link and send it to collaborators.
How Workspace Permissions Work
Workspace settings override individual sharing settings.
If your workspace is set to Members can edit, they will always have editing access - even if your gamma is set to Anyone with the link can view.
To set your gamma to be private (no one can view):
Ensure you click Share > Collaborate > Workspace Members > No access.
💎 Pro Tip: If you need stricter control over who can edit, adjust your workspace settings rather than just individual gamma sharing settings.
How to Request Access to a Gamma
If someone sends you a link to a gamma you cannot open, or gives you a lower level of access than you need, you can request access directly from the gamma instead of tracking down the owner.
Requesting access:
Open the gamma link you were sent.
If you do not have access, or need a higher level than you currently have, choose the access level you want to request.
Submit your request. Anyone with full access to the gamma will be notified by email and can approve or deny your request.
Approving or denying requests:
Anyone with full access to the gamma receives an email when someone requests access. The email links to the gamma.
Open the gamma and approve or deny the request from the share panel.
🔹Note: Access requests currently apply to individual gammas. Requesting access on folders, and managing requests from the mobile app, are coming soon.
Why Does the "Made with Gamma" Badge Appear?
Whether the badge shows depends on the plan of the workspace the gamma is in, at the moment it's viewed or exported. Nothing is saved on the gamma itself, so it doesn't matter which plan you were on when you created it.
Paid plans (Plus, Pro, Ultra, Team, Business, and Enterprise): the badge is removed automatically from shared and published views and from PDF, PowerPoint, and PNG exports. There's nothing to turn on.
Free plan: the badge shows on shared and published views and on exports.
You won't see it in your own editor. It only appears on shared or published views, in preview mode, and to logged-out viewers.
Files you already exported keep the badge. Export again after upgrading to get a version without it.
If your plan ends, the badge comes back. After you cancel, it stays hidden until the end of your billing period. If a payment fails, there's a grace period of about 21 days first.
🔷 Note: On the Free plan, the Share panel shows a Hide "Made with Gamma" badge switch in the Export and Embed tabs. Turning it on opens the upgrade options. It doesn't hide the badge on its own. On paid plans the switch doesn't appear, because the badge is already removed.
Still seeing the badge after upgrading?
Check which workspace the gamma is in. The badge follows the workspace's plan, so a gamma in a different workspace that's on the Free plan will still show it.
Export again. Files exported before you upgraded keep the badge.
Refresh. Reload the page, log out and back in, or open the link in an incognito or private window.
Still there? Contact Gamma Support and we'll take a look.
How to Index Your Gamma (Pro)
Click on Share at the top of your screen.
Under Advanced Settings, you can index your gamma by toggling on Make discoverable on the web.
This will allow search engine indexing to be enabled!
How to Set a Password for a Shared Gamma doc (Pro plans and higher)
Click Share at the top of your gamma.
Under Advanced Settings, toggle Require a password to view on.
Set your password.
Share the password with recipients so they can access the gamma. This means that only users with the password will be able to view your gamma.
🔷 Note: Password requirements are only available for Gamma documents. Gamma sites cannot be password protected at this time.
FAQs & Common Issues
What happens after I request access to a gamma?
Anyone with full access to the gamma gets an email letting them know. The email links to the gamma, where they can approve or deny your request from the share panel.
Can I request a higher level of access than I already have?
Yes. If you were given view access but need to edit, you can request the level of access you need on the gamma.
Can I request access to a folder?
Not yet. Folder access requests are coming soon.
Why don't I see a switch to hide the "Made with Gamma" badge?
On paid plans, the switch doesn't appear because the badge is already removed automatically from shared views and exports. On the Free plan, the switch opens the upgrade options instead of hiding the badge.
Why aren't changes reflected immediately?
Refresh your browser and retry exporting or sharing. For persistent issues, contact Gamma Support.
Why can’t my colleague edit the gamma, even though I shared it?
Check the following:
Ensure you have set their permission to "Edit" instead of "View" or "Comment."
If they are part of your workspace, check your workspace settings to see if their permissions are restricted.
Your colleague can also request edit access directly from the gamma. Anyone with full access will get an email and can approve the request from the share panel.
Can I comment on a gamma from a mobile browser?
Yes. On a mobile browser, double-tap a block to bring up the commenting toolbar. A single tap won't open it. You'll need Comment or Edit access to the gamma.
Why isn’t my password-protected gamma opening for a recipient?
Ensure the recipient is entering the exact password you set.
If the issue persists, reset the password and share the new one.
Why am I receiving "viewed for the first time" notifications on a presentation I haven't intentionally shared?
Check the presentation's sharing settings: Open the presentation and click Share. Review both "Anyone with the link" and "Workspace members" — if either is set to anything other than No access, anyone with that access level can view the presentation. This includes former workspace members who may still have a link. Set both to No access to restrict viewing.
Check your workspace-level sharing settings: Workspace-level permissions can override individual presentation settings. If your workspace default sharing permission is not set to No access, members may have access even if the individual presentation appears restricted. Check your workspace admin settings to confirm the default sharing permissions for new gammas.
Can viewers print or save a Gamma shared via a view-only link?
View-only links do not include Gamma's built-in export or download controls — those are only available to the owner or editors of the deck. However, viewers can use their browser's native print function as a workaround:
Open the shared Gamma link in a browser.
Press Ctrl+P (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+P (Mac) to open the print dialog.
To save as a PDF instead of printing, choose Save as PDF as the destination.
🔷 Tip: For the best results, you may need to adjust scale and margins to get the slides to display correctly.
