Introduction
Gamma Enterprise gives workspace admins centralized control over how content is shared, published, and branded — and over who can change what. This article covers each control, what it does, and what happens to existing content when you turn it on.
🔷 Note: These settings live in Workspace Settings, in the lower-left of your sidebar. Only admins can change workspace settings, on any plan. Restricting a setting away from its default requires an Enterprise plan. Some controls are still rolling out and may not appear in every workspace yet.
Sharing and publishing controls
These live in Workspace Settings > Sharing & access.
Workspace sharing
Controls whether members can share gammas and folders with everyone in the workspace. When disabled, only admins can share workspace-wide; members can still share with specific people. Content and folders already shared to the workspace stay shared. To remove access, change the sharing settings on each gamma or folder individually.
Default workspace sharing permission
Sets the default workspace visibility (Manage, Edit, Comment, View, or No access) for new gammas. This setting starts at No access, so new gammas stay private until the creator is ready to share. It's a default, not a restriction, so creators can change it on any gamma they create. This option appears when workspace sharing is enabled.
Link sharing
Controls whether members can make gammas viewable by anyone with the link, including people not logged into Gamma. When disabled, no new shareable links can be created - this also blocks password-protected links, embeds, and social sharing. Existing public links stay live, but our team can bulk-revoke every existing access link in your workspace on request. Disabling link sharing also turns off search engine indexing for your workspace.
Default link sharing permission
Sets the default link permission (Edit, Comment, View, or No access) for new gammas. This setting starts at No access as the default, and creators can change it on any gamma they create. This option appears when link sharing is enabled.
Search engine indexing
Controls whether creators can make their gammas discoverable by search engines. When disabled, no one in the workspace can enable indexing on any gamma.
This setting starts off for Enterprise workspaces by default, creators can't make gammas discoverable by search engines until an admin turns it on.
Two things to know:
This control requires link sharing to be enabled. If link sharing is off, indexing is off too.
Gammas that were already indexed may still appear in search results until an editor explicitly disables indexing on that gamma.
Site creation
Controls whether members can publish new Gamma sites. Turning this off doesn't take down sites that are already published, but our team can bulk-unpublish all existing sites in your workspace on request.
Brand controls
These live in Workspace Settings > Design & templates.
Template creation
Controls who can create workspace templates: Everyone or Admins. When set to Admins, members can no longer create templates from their gammas. Who can edit an existing template still depends on the permissions of the template itself.
Theme and font management
Controls who can create or edit workspace-level themes and fonts: Everyone or Admins. This keeps your brand assets consistent. It doesn't stop members from choosing an existing theme for their own gammas.
Default workspace theme
Sets the default theme for all new gammas created in the workspace. Members can still pick a different theme per gamma.
Icon library management
Controls who can create, edit, and upload icons to workspace libraries: Everyone or Admins. You can also set a default icon library for the workspace. (Rolling out now, so this may not appear in your just workspace yet.)
Access and security controls
API key generation
Controls whether members can generate API keys. When disabled:
No one in the workspace can create new API keys.
Existing API keys stop working immediately. However, they aren't permanently revoked, so turning the setting back on restores them.
To permanently revoke existing keys, contact support.
Connector management
Connectors link Gamma to other tools your team uses, like Google Drive, Slack, and Notion so Gamma can pull in content from those tools when creating gammas. This setting controls whether members can connect their accounts and use connectors. You can turn off connectors for the whole workspace or disable individual connectors. This setting lives in Workspace Settings > Sharing & access.
Note that disabling a connector also disconnects existing accounts for that connector in your workspace — members can't use it again until an admin re-enables it. When connectors are restricted, members see a message explaining that an admin has disabled them.
FAQs & Common Issues
If I restrict a setting, what happens to existing content?
Most restrictions only block new activity. For example, existing public links stay live, published sites stay up, and content already shared to the workspace stays shared.
If you want existing items removed too, our team can bulk-revoke all access links or bulk-unpublish all sites in your workspace on request.
By contrast, two settings act on existing items immediately: disabling API key generation stops existing keys from working, and disabling a connector disconnects existing accounts.
What happens to our settings if we downgrade?
Settings you already changed keep working exactly as-is. Gamma never changes a value you set.
An admin can move a setting back to its default at any time, on any plan. You'll see a confirmation warning first, because restricting it again requires Enterprise.
Can I restrict who creates templates?
Yes. Set Template creation to Admins and members can no longer create workspace templates.
Editing an existing template is separate; that follows the template's own permissions.
