Introduction

Gamma allows you to design custom themes to match your brand or personal style. You can modify colors, fonts, logos, and other design elements to create a unique visual identity for your workspace. Follow the steps below to create, import, or edit a custom theme in Gamma.

What is a Custom Theme?

A custom theme in Gamma defines the overall visual style of your content, including:

  • Colors

  • Fonts

  • Card styles

  • Accent images

Note: Custom themes are automatically shared with all users in your workspace.

How to Create a Custom Theme

You have two ways to create a custom theme in Gamma:

Option 1: Edit an Existing Theme

  1. Click on the three dots (…) at the bottom right of an existing theme.

  2. Select Customize this theme to modify colors, fonts, logos, and more.

Option 2: Create a New Theme from Scratch

  1. Navigate to Themes.

  2. Click New Theme.

  3. Follow the step-by-step builder to customize your:

    • Background and primary colors

    • Fonts and typography

    • Design elements (buttons, links, and shadows)

    • Logos and accent images

  4. Save your theme to use it across your workspace.

How to Import a Theme

Gamma allows you to import themes from external sources like PowerPoint or Google Drive.

Steps to Import a Theme:

  1. In the Theme Editor, click Import Theme.

  2. Select PowerPoint or Google Drive.

  3. Upload your file.

  4. Gamma will extract the colors, fonts, and logos from your file to create a matching theme.

How to Edit an Existing Theme

  1. Click on the three dots (…) next to the theme name.

  2. Select Customize Theme.

  3. Adjust the following elements:

    • Colors: Modify the color palette for backgrounds, links, and buttons.

    • Fonts: Change the typography, including font styles and sizes.

    • Logos: Upload a logo to appear on all decks using this theme.

    • Design: Adjust card shapes, strokes, and shadows.

    • Images: Set default accent images and define AI-generated image styles.

How to Customize Colors in a Theme

  1. Open the Theme Editor.

  2. Navigate to the Colors tab.

  3. Customise:

    • Background colors

    • Button and link colors

    • Element fills and outlines

  4. Enter a Hex Code or use the color wheel to select colors.

Customizing Font Colors:

  1. Click on Fonts in the Theme Editor.

  2. Adjust heading and body text colors.

  3. Apply gradients for a unique text style.

Typography & Font Settings

Gamma allows more control over typography in custom themes. You can adjust:

  • Line height

  • Letter spacing

  • Base size

  • Uppercasing (for headings only)

How to Add a Logo to Your Theme

  1. Open Themes > Edit Theme > Logo.

  2. Upload your logo.

  3. The logo will automatically appear in the bottom-left corner of all decks using this theme.

Customizing the Design

You can adapt the design of cards, blocks, content, buttons, and links:

  • Roundness: Adjust how sharp or rounded elements appear.

  • Stroke and Shadow: Add outlines or hard shadows to content.

  • Block Colors and Fills: Customise the colors of smart layouts and interactive elements.

How to Set a Consistent Image Style

  1. Open the Theme Editor.

  2. Navigate to Images.

  3. Add specific keywords for AI-generated images to maintain a consistent style.

  4. Upload accent images to apply them to your custom theme.

Can I share my custom theme with my team?

  • Yes! Custom themes are automatically shared across your workspace.

Why doesn’t my logo appear on my gamma?

  • Ensure your theme is applied correctly under Themes > Edit Theme > Logo.

Can I import themes from Figma or Canva?

  • Currently, Gamma supports importing from PowerPoint and Google Drive, but not from Figma or Canva.

Why aren’t my custom fonts displaying correctly?

  • Check that your font files are correctly uploaded under Themes > Edit Theme > Fonts.
