Introduction
Slides in Gamma are the fundamental building blocks of your presentations, documents, or webpages - each acting like a flexible section or canvas.
You can manually add new slides, generate them using AI, and customize their layout with text, images, media, and other elements.
🌀 Insight: Unlike static slides in other software, Gamma’s slides dynamically adjust to fit your content while maintaining an organized layout.
Key Features of Slides
Slides can be manually added or generated using AI.
They automatically adjust in height to fit your content, but can be set to a fixed size.
Slide sizes can be controlled under Page Settings.
Users can apply templates for quick formatting.
💎 Pro Tip: If a slide grows too tall, consider moving some content to a new slide for better readability.
How to Add a New Slide
Manually Adding a Slide
Navigate to an existing Gamma document or create a new one.
Hover between two existing slides until a + appears.
Click the + to add a new blank slide.
How to Add a Slide Using Agent
Click the sparkle icon to open Agent's AI suggestions.
If your Gamma has existing content, Agent will suggest additional slides based on related topics.
If none of the suggestions fit your needs, manually enter a topic for Agent to generate content.
Choose a preferred language style and template for the new slide.
Click Generate to add the new slide to your Gamma.
How to Hide a Slide
You can choose to hide individual slides in your Gamma presentations and sites.
Just right-click on the slide in the filmstrip and click Hide.
Hidden slides stay in your presentation or site but won’t appear while presenting, or in the published website.
Bring them back anytime by right-clicking and selecting Unhide.
💎 Pro Tip: Use hidden slides to store backup content or alternate versions without deleting anything.
How to Edit Slides - A Quick Hack!
Gamma now makes it easier to edit slides with a simple right-click.
Go to your Gamma and right-click on the edge or padding of any slide - this brings up a quick-access menu just for that slide.
🌀 Insight: From here, you can instantly make changes like copying slides, re-styling, adding notes, and quickly changing layouts.
It’s a fast way to stay in the flow while editing without clicking through extra menus!
FAQs & Common Issues
Can I add multiple slides at once?
Yes, if you're using Agent! You can ask it to add multiple slides in a single request with no hard limit on how many it can add at once. Keep in mind that Agent charges credits per slide it generates, so large additions will use a meaningful chunk of your monthly credits. For very large requests, you may get better results splitting the ask into a few smaller ones.
If you're adding slides manually, they need to be added one at a time.
Are there templates for slides?
Yes! Click the down arrow next to the sparkle icon to explore available slide layouts, or drag and drop a fresh layout from the insert menu.
Is there a limit to how many slides I can add?
There's no cap on total slides in a gamma — you can always keep growing a deck.
The one exception is the Create with AI generator, which is capped per prompt:
Paid workspaces: up to 75 slides per generation
Free workspaces: up to 10 slides per generation
This cap is specific to the initial generator flow and doesn't apply to Agent. If you need more slides beyond the generator cap, run additional prompts, use Agent to add more, or add slides manually.
Generating and editing slides with AI uses credits on all plans.
How do I control slide sizes?
By default, slides are fluid, meaning they automatically resize based on the content inside them.
You can adjust the minimum aspect ratio under the three-dot menu (…) in the top right corner, and then clicking Page Setup.
If you select a fixed ratio (e.g., 16:9), dotted guidelines will appear to help you manage your content.
