How do I downgrade my Gamma subscription?

How to switch to a lower Gamma plan, what to expect during the transition, and how your access and billing are affected.

Introduction

If your needs have changed, you can switch to a lower Gamma plan at any time. When you downgrade, your new plan takes effect at the end of your current billing period, so you keep full access to your current plan right up until then.

🔷 Note: Your downgrade is scheduled automatically. You do not need to do anything else after confirming it.

What Is a Scheduled Downgrade?

When you choose to move to a lower plan, Gamma schedules the change to happen at the end of your current billing period rather than immediately. This means:

  • You keep all the features and credits of your current plan until your billing period ends.

  • No prorations are applied. You have already paid for the current period, and that is not affected.

  • Your new plan and its associated features will activate automatically when the period closes.

🌀 Insight: If you change your mind before the period ends, you can upgrade back at any time and your scheduled downgrade will be cancelled.

How to Downgrade Your Plan

Step 1: Open Your Settings

From your Gamma dashboard, click the dropdown in the upper-left corner and select Manage billing, then go to .

Once you’re in the dropdown menu in the upper-left corner of your Gamma dashboard, you can also select Settings, and then Billing. Either method works.

Step 2: Select a Lower Plan

Click View all plans to open the plan selector. Choose the plan you would like to move to. If you are moving to a lower plan tier, Gamma will recognize this as a downgrade and schedule the change for the end of your billing period.

🔷 Note: Only one scheduled change is allowed at a time. If you schedule a downgrade and then schedule a different change, the most recent selection will apply.

Step 3: Confirm Your Selection

Review the confirmation screen, which will show you the plan you are moving to and the date the change takes effect. The modal will also show you what benefits you will lose by downgrading. Click Confirm downgrade to schedule the downgrade.

How Downgrade Timing Works

Downgrade timing depends on your current billing cycle.

Monthly plans: Your downgrade takes effect on your next monthly renewal date.

Annual plans: Your downgrade takes effect when your annual period ends. You will keep your current plan for the full remaining duration of the year.

💎 Pro Tip: You can check your renewal date at any time in Settings & members > Billing.

Understanding Plan Hierarchy

Gamma determines upgrades and downgrades based on plan level, not price. The plan hierarchy from highest to lowest is: Ultra, Pro, Plus, Free.

A move to any plan lower in that order is considered a downgrade, regardless of whether you are also changing your billing frequency. For example, moving from Pro annual to Plus annual is a downgrade.
