Gamma offers toggles, nested cards, and footnotes to help you structure information efficiently while maintaining readability. This guide explains how to use each feature to improve your document’s organization.

Write Directly into a Toggle, Footnote or Nested Card

💎 Pro Tip: On your keyboard, hit "the slash / key" and type toggle, footnote, or nested cards to immediately begin writing your content.

What's the Best Way to Use Each One?

  • Use footnotes for references, toggles for collapsible details, and nested cards for organizing sections.

How to Use Footnotes

Step 1: Add a Footnote

  1. Highlight the text where you want to add a footnote.

  2. Click the footnote option from the toolbar or use right-click > "Add Footnote".

  3. A footnote section will appear at the bottom of the card.

  4. Paste or type the additional information into the footnote section.

Step 2: Edit or Remove a Footnote

  • Click inside the footnote section to edit the text.

  • To remove a footnote, delete the reference in the main content, and it will be removed automatically.

How to Use Toggles

🌀 Insight: Toggles allow you to collapse and expand sections of content, making your gamma more interactive and easier to scan.

Step 1: Convert Text into a Toggle

  1. Select the text you want to collapse.

  2. Click the toggle option from the toolbar or use right-click > "Convert to Toggle".

  3. The text will be converted into a toggle that can be expanded or collapsed.

Step 2: Edit or Delete a Toggle

  • Click the toggle header to expand or collapse the content.

  • To delete a toggle, select the entire section and press delete.

How to Use Nested Cards

🌀 Insight: Nested cards allow you to embed one card inside another, creating structured sub-sections for related content.

Step 1: Add a Nested Card

  1. Click and drag one card onto another in the main slides OR start a blank nested card by typing "/ nested card".

  2. The card will become nested inside the parent card.

  3. Click the nested card to expand or collapse it within the main content.

Step 2: Navigate Nested Cards

  • Use the up and down arrow keys to highlight different nested elements inside a card.

  • Click on a nested card to edit it directly.
