How Credits Work in Gamma

🔷 Note: Free users cannot purchase credits. To buy credits, you'll need to upgrade to a paid plan.

Credits are assigned at the user level. Each workspace member has their own balance. On paid plans, standard AI creation features (presentations, documents, and images) are unlimited. Monthly credits are only used for:

  • Agent

  • Ultra AI models (if available on your plan)

  • API access (if available on your plan)

How Much Do Credit Purchases Cost?

  • 1,500 credits for $6 (purchased in increments of 1,500 only)

When Can I Purchase Credits?

You have two options for purchasing credits:

Option 1: Auto-Recharge (Available Anytime)

  • Set up auto-recharge at any time, regardless of your current balance

  • Works for both single-user and multi-user workspaces

  • Credits automatically added when balances drop below your chosen threshold

Option 2: One-Time Purchase (When Below Threshold)

🔷 Note: Available only in single-user workspaces.

  • You can purchase when you're under your plan's rollover limit (2× your monthly allocation):

    • Plus (limit 2,000): Buy when ≤ 500 credits

    • Pro (limit 8,000): Buy when ≤ 6,500 credits

    • Ultra (limit 40,000): Buy when ≤ 38,500 credits

    • Teams (limit 12,000): Buy when ≤ 10,500 credits

    • Business (limit 20,000): Buy when ≤ 18,500 credits

The 1,500-credit buffer ensures you stay under your plan's maximum rollover cap.

Do Purchased Credits Expire?

  • While subscribed: Purchased credits never expire.

  • If you cancel: All credits (monthly, rollover, purchased) remain until your billing period ends. After that, your credits expire and your account moves to the Free plan.


How to Set Up Auto-Recharge

Auto-recharge automatically purchases credits when balances fall below a threshold you set. You can enable auto-recharge at any time, regardless of your current balance.

🔷 Note: Only workspace admins can enable auto-recharge in multi-user workspaces.

Steps To Set Up

  1. Open your Workspace Settings (top-left menu).

  2. Go to the Billing tab.

  3. Click Enable Auto-Recharge.

  4. Choose a threshold (e.g., recharge when balance drops below 500).

  5. Choose the number of credits to add each time (e.g., 1,500 = $6).

  6. Click Enable Auto-Recharge to save.

How It Works

Single-user workspaces:

  • When your balance drops below the threshold, Gamma automatically adds the amount you set and charges your payment method.

Multi-user workspaces:

  • Each member has their own credit balance. When any member's balance drops below the threshold, credits are added to that member's account, and you are charged separately for each member who triggers a recharge.

🔷 Note: Credits are not pooled. Example: If three teammates drop below the 1,500-credit threshold, you'll be charged three times ($6 × 3 = $18).

Managing Auto-Recharge

  • Admins can edit or disable auto-recharge anytime under Settings & members > Billing tab.


How to Buy Credits (One-Time Purchase)

🔷 Note: One-time purchases are only available in single-user workspaces. Multi-user admins must use auto-recharge instead.

Steps to Purchase:

  1. Open your Workspace Settings (top-left menu).

  2. Go to the Billing tab.

  3. Click Buy Credits.

  4. Select how many credits to purchase (1,500 = $6) and confirm payment.


FAQs & Common Issues

Why can't I set up auto-recharge?

  • Only admins can manage auto-recharge. If you're not an admin, contact your workspace administrator.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

  • Auto-recharge is turned off automatically

  • You can still make one-time purchases (in single-user workspaces) until the subscription ends

  • After your plan ends, your account moves to Free and unused credits expire

Why can't I buy more than my plan's credit limit?

  • Each plan has a rollover cap (2× your monthly allocation). If you regularly need more, consider upgrading to a higher plan.

When do my credits refresh?

  • Your monthly credits refresh on your billing date. You can view your next refresh date under Workspace Settings > Billing tab.

What happens to my credits if I upgrade or downgrade?

  • Upgrade: You keep all existing credits and get your new plan's monthly allocation immediately

  • Downgrade: You keep all existing credits (even above the new cap). The new rollover limit applies at your next billing cycle

Are credits shared across my team?

  • No. Credits are assigned to each member individually. Auto-recharge applies per member.

Can I set different auto-recharge thresholds per teammate?

  • No. One threshold applies to the entire workspace.

What payment methods can I use?

  • We accept major credit and debit cards. (ACH/SEPA may also be available depending on region.)
