Introduction

While you can’t directly revert a site back to a presentation once it’s been converted in Gamma, you can still duplicate the content into a new gamma document. This method lets you rebuild your presentation using the original content.

What Happens When You Convert to a Site?

Once a gamma is converted into a site, it gains additional publishing features like navigation, multiple pages, and custom domains. However, this also locks the document into site format and disables features exclusive to presentations (like speaker notes or presenter view).

How to Recreate a Presentation from a Site

Step 1: Open the Pages Panel

  1. Go to your Gamma site.

  2. Click the Pages icon in the top-left to open the pages panel.

Step 2: Select All Cards

  1. Use Cmd + A (Mac) or Ctrl + A (Windows) to select all cards in the current page.

  2. Right-click and select Copy, or use keyboard shortcut Cmd + C / Ctrl + C.

Step 3: Create a New Gamma

  1. Return to your Gamma dashboard.

  2. Click Create New and choose Presentation.

  3. Paste the copied cards using Cmd + V / Ctrl + V into the new gamma.

Pro Tip: Label your pages before copying to stay organized as you rebuild your presentation.

FAQs & Common Issues

Can I switch back to presentation mode directly?

  • No. Once a gamma is converted to a site, it can’t be reverted. You’ll need to copy content into a new presentation manually.

Will I lose any content when copying from a site?

  • No. All cards, text, and media should copy over correctly. However, check navigation links or site-level settings separately, as those won’t transfer.

Can I copy multiple pages into one doc?

  • Yes, but you’ll need to copy each page individually into the new gamma.
