What is the Media library and how do I use it in Gamma 5?

Learn how to upload, find, and organize your media in the Media library, reuse your saved images and favorites in the editor, and ask Gamma 5 to use them when creating or editing a gamma.

Introduction

The Media library keeps the images and videos you upload or create in one place, so you can find your favorites and use them again. In Gamma 5, you can also ask Gamma to find saved images and add them to a new or existing gamma.

What is the Media library?

Think of the Media library as a home for the visuals you want to keep using, from product screenshots and team photos to AI images and graphics.

With the Media library, you can:

  • Browse media you've uploaded or created in your current workspace.

  • Upload images or create new AI images and graphics.

  • Search and filter your media to find what you need.

  • Save favorites for quick access.

  • Add saved media to a card or ask Gamma 5 to use saved images for you.

  • Download or delete media, individually or in a group.

🔷 Note: Your media is tied to the workspace you're using. Gamma 5's AI search currently finds images you own in that workspace. A teammate's uploads or media in a shared folder may have different availability.

How do I add media to my library?

Step 1: Open the Media library

From your Gamma dashboard, open Media in the sidebar. This is where you'll find your uploaded and created media.

Step 2: Upload or create media

To upload images:

  1. Click Upload.

  2. Drag your files into the upload window, or click to choose files from your device.

  3. Wait for the upload to finish. Your images appear in the library.

You can upload image files, including HEIC and HEIF, with up to 50 files at a time and 200 MB per file.

You can also use Create new to choose Create graphic or Create AI image.

🔷 Note: The library can display saved images, animations, and videos. The Upload window described here accepts images. The types you can choose when adding media to a gamma depend on where you're adding it.

Step 3: Find and favorite your media

Use search to look for an image, then narrow the results with filters:

  • Source: Choose uploaded or generated media.

  • File type: Choose images or animations.

  • Generation type: Narrow generated media to a particular type, such as AI images or graphics.

Use the sort control to switch between newest and oldest first. If you don't see what you need, clear your filters or click Load more.

To keep an item handy, hover over it and click the star. Choose Favorites from the media view menu to see your saved favorites.

💎 Pro Tip: Favorite the visuals you use often, such as product screenshots or team photos. You'll have a smaller set to browse the next time you need them.

How do I use saved media in a gamma?

You can choose an item directly from the editor:

  1. Add an image to a card, or open the image picker for an existing image.

  2. Choose Media library from the media sources.

  3. Browse your images or open Favorites. Use the available filters to narrow the results.

  4. Click an item to add it to your card.

You can also choose saved images wherever Gamma offers the Media library picker, including supported style-reference and attachment flows.

How does the Media library work in Gamma 5?

🔷 Note: Asking Gamma to find and use your saved images is available in Gamma 5. In Classic, you can still browse and insert saved media from the Media library picker in the editor.

When media reuse is available in your workspace, you can ask Gamma to find and use images from your library while creating or editing.

Step 1: Tell Gamma what you're looking for

Include the subject and where you'd like the image to go. For example:

  • “Create a product launch presentation using screenshots from my Media library.”

  • “Find a team photo from my library for the About us card.”

  • “Replace the image on the opening card with my saved product photo.”

Gamma can search by what an image shows, so a description of the subject can help even if you don't remember its name.

Step 2: Choose images when Gamma asks

Gamma may show matching images and ask which ones you'd like to use. Select the images that fit your request. If none look right, describe what you want more clearly or choose an image yourself from the library.

Step 3: Review your gamma

Gamma adds the chosen images as it creates or edits your content. Review the images and their placement, then ask for any changes you'd like.

💎 Pro Tip: Be specific about how you want to use an image. “Use my saved product screenshot on the Features card” gives Gamma more direction than “add an image.”

How do I manage my media?

Hover over an item to favorite, download, or delete it. Click the star again to remove it from Favorites.

To work with several items at once:

  1. Click Select media.

  2. Choose the items you want to manage.

  3. Use the selection toolbar to favorite, unfavorite, download, or delete them.

  4. Confirm the deletion if prompted, or click Cancel to leave selection mode.
