How to Insert a Chart in Gamma

Step 1: Access the Smart Chart Tool

  1. Open your Gamma document.

  2. Click on the Insert Menu located on the right-hand side of the screen.

  3. Select Charts & Diagrams.

  4. Select from Smart Charts

  5. Alternatively, type /chart in a card to quickly insert a chart.

🔷 Note: Smart Charts is our new charting tool. Our old chart feature will slowly be deprecated.

Step 2: Choose a Chart Type

  1. Once the chart menu appears, select the type of chart that best suits your data.

  2. The chart editor will open automatically, allowing you to enter and modify your data.

Step 3: Enter and Edit Data

  1. Click on any cell in the chart editor to enter your data.

  2. Use the drop-down menu in each column to add or remove data columns or change the column type.

  3. Adjust values as needed to ensure your chart reflects the correct data.

  4. Right-click a column to delete

Step 4: Customize the Chart

  1. Use options under Graph to add and remove data labeling

  2. Modify Axes settings to improve readability.Rename labels in the table columns

  3. Adjust the color scheme and text size under Visuals to match your presentation style

  4. Click on the chart directly to annotate data

  5. Change the chart type if needed.

💎 Pro Tip: Add more columns to display the data for applicable chart types.

Step 5: Finalize and Insert the Chart

  1. Once you're happy with your chart, click the X in the upper-right corner to close the editor.

  2. Your chart will now appear within your Gamma document.

  3. Click and drag the chart to reposition it as needed.

💎 Pro Tip: You can show / hide multiple series within the editor.

How to Insert a Diagram in Gamma

Step 1: Access the Diagram Tool

  1. Open your Gamma document.

  2. Click Smart Diagrams from the Insert Menu.

  3. Alternatively, type /diagram to quickly insert a diagram.

Step 2: Edit Your Diagram

  1. Zoom in and out using the top-left toolbar.

  2. Enable or disable the grid for alignment.

  3. Click Undo (or use Command + Z / Ctrl + Z).

  4. Use the bottom menu to adjust text alignment, colour, and placement.

  5. Modify lines and shapes by adjusting colour, line thickness, and arrow direction.

Step 3: Add Elements to Your Diagram

  1. Use the right-side menu to:

    • Select objects.

    • Scroll across the diagram grid.

    • Erase elements.

    • Insert lines, arrows, and shapes.

    • Add text and images.

  2. Click and drag an uploaded image to position it within your diagram.

  3. Use the background removal tool to refine image placement.

  • Ensure that all required data fields are filled.

How do I resize or move my chart?

  • Click and drag the chart to reposition it.

Can I export my chart?

  • Charts can be exported as part of your Gamma document when you download or share your project.

Can I edit my chart with Agent?

  • Yes! You can edit your chart with agent by selecting Open Agent to submit the request.

What happens to charts I created with the older chart features?
