Can I translate a Gamma document?

How to translate a Gamma document, how to change language in Gamma, or how to use AI for translation in Gamma.

Introduction

🌀 Insight: Gamma can translate your content with AI, one slide at a time or the whole gamma at once, on every plan.

Translations use AI credits, so make sure your workspace has credits available. This guide covers translating a gamma in place in the editor, and creating a new translated copy from the agent home page.

How to Translate a Gamma in the Editor

Translating in the editor changes your open gamma directly. There's no slide limit on any plan.

Translate a Single Slide

  1. Open your gamma.

  2. Click Edit with Agent on the left edge of the slide you want to translate.

  3. Type Translate this slide into [desired language] and send it.

Translate the Whole Gamma

  1. Open your gamma and open the agent chat on the left (click Show chat if it's hidden).

  2. Type Translate all slides into [desired language] and send it.

  3. The agent translates every slide as a single edit and tells you which slides it changed. You can undo it in one step if needed.

To keep the translation in this gamma, ask the agent to translate your slides. If you ask for a "copy" or a "new version," the agent may ask which you want or create a new gamma instead, and new gammas follow your plan's slide limit.

🔷 Note: In gammas made before Gamma 5, click Agent (Edit all slides with AI) at the top right and choose Translate to translate the whole gamma, or click Edit with Agent at the top-left of a slide and choose Translate for a single slide.

How to Create a Translated Copy of a Gamma

If you want to keep your original gamma unchanged, you can create a translated copy from the agent home page:

  1. From your Gamma dashboard, attach your gamma in the prompt bar.

  2. Choose Translate, or ask the agent for a new gamma in your desired language.

  3. The agent builds a new, translated gamma and leaves the original untouched.

Because this creates a new gamma, your plan's generation limit applies:

  • Free: up to 10 slides. The new gamma includes the first 10 slides, and the agent will let you know your plan's limit shaped the deck.

  • Plus, Pro, Ultra, Team, and Business: up to 100 slides.

FAQs & Common Issues

Can I translate a gamma into multiple languages?

  • Yes! Simply repeat the translation steps and request a different language each time.

Why is only part of my text being translated?

  • Ensure all content is inside editable text fields before running the AI translation.

Can I manually edit the translation?

  • Yes, you can edit any translated text directly in the editor afterwards.

Is there a limit on how many slides I can translate?

  • Not when translating in the editor, on any plan. The only limit is your AI credits.

  • When you create a new translated copy from the agent home page, Free plans are limited to 10 slides and paid plans to 100 slides.

Why did my translated gamma only include the first 10 slides?

  • A new translated copy was created, which follows the Free plan's 10-slide limit.

  • To translate every slide, open the original gamma and ask the agent chat in the editor to translate all slides.

Why did my translation stop working?

  • Each slide's translation uses AI credits. If your workspace runs out of credits, translation requests are blocked until you have more.
