How do I add animations in Gamma?

Introduction

Adding animations in your gamma adds dynamic visual impact. In this guide, we’ll cover how to generate, insert, and edit animations.

How to Generate AI Animations in Gamma

You can create animations in Gamma using the slash command or the Add block menu. In Gamma 5, animations can also be generated automatically or by asking for them in chat with the agent. Animation: Auto and chat-based animate in Gamma 5 require the Standard or Max power level.

Option 1: Using the Slash Command

  1. Click on a slide in your gamma.

  2. Type /animations.

  3. Select AI animations from the dropdown menu.

Option 2: Using the Add Block Menu

  1. In the toolbar at the top of the editor, click Add block.

  2. Select Images, then choose AI animations.

🔷 Note: In gammas made before Gamma 5, open the insert menu on the right-hand side, click the image icon, and select AI animations.

Option 3: When Creating a Gamma with the Classic Generator

  1. Click Image Source under Customize your gamma.

  2. Select AI animations.

  3. Click Generate.

Generating AI Animations in the Editor

  1. Enter a text description of the animation you want.

  2. (Optional) You can adjust the aspect ratio and model.

  3. Click Generate to create an AI-generated animation.

Editing AI Animations

Step 1: Open up your AI Animation

  1. Locate the AI-generated animation in your gamma.

  2. Click on your animation to select it.

Step 2: Toolbar menu

  1. A toolbar will appear above or below the selected animation.

  2. You’re able to align, crop, leave a comment, or add a click action.

  3. If you’d like to regenerate your animation, click Edit to prompt to generate a new one.

Editing AI Animations with Agent

Step 1: Open up your AI Animation

  1. Locate the AI-generated animation in your gamma.

  2. Click on your animation to select it.

Step 2: Click ‘Edit with Agent’

  1. A toolbar will appear above or below the selected animation.

  2. Click the Edit with Agent button.

FAQs & Common Issues

Which plans can use AI animations?

  • Creating AI animations from a text prompt is available on Ultra, Business, and Enterprise plans.

  • AI animations aren't available on Free, Plus, or Pro plans.

Does Gamma have PowerPoint-style slide transitions?

  • No. Gamma doesn't have slide transitions or text animations like PowerPoint's.

  • AI animations are something different: short video clips generated from a text prompt and placed on a slide, like an image.

Which models can create animations?

  • AI animations are available with these models:

    • Veo 3.1 Fast.

    • Leonardo Motion 2.

    • Leonardo Motion 2 Fast.

Can I animate an image that's already in my gamma?

  • In gammas made before Gamma 5, Pro plans and above can animate an existing image from the editor. Each animation uses 125 credits.

  • The Gamma 5 agent can't animate an image that's already in your gamma.

Can I edit animations that weren’t generated with AI?

  • No. AI editing only works on animations created using Gamma’s built-in AI animation tool.

Can I undo my edits?

  • Yes! Use the undo button or press Cmd + Z (Mac) or Ctrl + Z (Windows) to revert changes.
