You've created your Gamma site, and maybe you've even published it, but now you'd like to customize it. You can easily do this using the site settings. You can get back to your site settings by clicking Site settings under the ... menu within your Gamma.

Remember, when you make changes to pages in your site, they won't go live immediately. When you're ready, you can publish your changes by pressing the publish button. This will push the content for each of your pages, as well as any site-level changes like the theme or navigation.

You can also publish a single page by pressing the ... menu next to the page. This will update that page's content, but not any site-level changes like the theme.

Adding a custom domain

  • If you'll be using a custom domain, you'll need to purchase it with a domain provider. All major domain providers are supported.

  • Adding an additional domain will prompt you to select either an automatic setup or a manual setup. We recommend using automatic setup, but if you run into any issues, you can manually setup DNS following the instructions under manual setup.

  • You can also customize your gamma.site domain by selecting the ‘edit’ icon

Site settings

Under the settings tab in sites, you can customize additional areas of your site.

  • You can update the site name

  • You can also upload a favicon. Also known as a shortcut icon, website icon, tab icon, URL icon, or bookmark icon, a favicon is a file containing one or more small icons associated with a particular website or web page. We recommend a square image that is at exactly 128×128px.

Adding navigation to your site

Ready to take your website to the next level? Introducing the navigation bar (or navbar for short) - your tool for seamless site navigation. The navbar is typically used if you have multiple Gamma pages, or if you want to have your logo and a call to action button on your site.

Under site settings, you can choose to add a top navbar.

Once this is done, you'll see page links appear at the top of your site. If you hover with your cursor, you'll see a plus sign button that will allow you to add more if needed.

Clicking on one of the page links will allow you to update the text, update the text alignment, delete the page, and set the URL. Of course, the URL does not need to be to another Gamma page, but can be to any URL you'd like.

Once navigation is enabled, you can always edit the navbar by editing any page. Some things to be aware of:

  • The navigation is synced up between all your pages. If you edit the nav on any page, all the pages will update automatically.

  • Navigation changes only go live when you hit the publish button. Publishing a single page will not update the navigation. So go ahead and perfect your navbar, add your logo, create irresistible call-to-action buttons, and when you're ready, make your site shine with a single click.

We will come back to this, but first let's learn about adding multiple pages to your site.

Adding multiple pages to your site

  1. To add multiple pages to your site, click the drop down arrow in the upper left hand corner of your Gamma.

  2. Here, you will see your main home page. Click on the plus sign to add another page, using either AI or a blank page.

  3. Hover your cursor over the new page to see the … menu, and click it.

  4. You'll see some options here.

    1. You can take this single page offline (if it is currently published), without taking down your entire site.

    2. You can preview how the page will appear publicly

    3. You can adjust the page setup

    4. You can change the URL path. Leaving the URL path blank will set this page as the homepage, rather than an ancillary page.

  5. Set up as many additional pages for your site as you'd like!

Use Case: multiple site pages

For example, let's say this user wants the Contact Us link in the navbar to route directly to the Contact Us page in Gamma.

  1. First, navigate to the home page and click on the Contact Us link (Your site will need to be enabled for this step, however, it does not need to be published).

  2. You can then choose the Gamma page you'd like this link to map to.

  3. That's it! Make sure you publish your changes to set them live!

  4. If you wanted the link in the top navbar to route to an external URL, including a separate Gamma, you could paste the URL of the destination page into the URL section of the link.

Setting page descriptions

Setting a page description on each of your site pages allows you to customize your content precisely. These page descriptions will show in web search results, so you'll want to set even a brief description on each page.

To set a page description, click on the ellipsis next to that page and select 'Page setup'.

Select 'Preview'. Here you can change your page's title, URL path, and description. You can also preview your page. Remember to publish to set your changes live!

Analytics

To track how your site is performing, you can turn on a third-party tool like Google Analytics. To use an analytics tool, you can set up Google Tag Manager under Site Settings. Please see: Setting up Google analytics
