Gamma’s AI-powered image editing lets you make changes to your generated visuals without starting from scratch. Whether you want to fix a detail, add creative flair, or turn your image into an animation, Gamma gives you the tools to enhance your visuals - quickly and creatively.

What is AI Image Editing?

AI image editing in Gamma allows you to refine and customise AI-generated visuals directly in your gamma. You can modify the background, add new items or text, correct issues, or animate your artwork. Think of it as a smart editing layer on top of your existing image, perfect for polishing or personalising your visuals.

How to Edit AI-Generated Images

Step 1: Open Your AI Image

  • Locate the AI-generated image in your gamma

  • Click on the image to select it

Step 2: Click ‘Ask AI to’

  • A toolbar will appear above or below the selected image OR you can right click on the AI image you wish to edit

  • Click the Ask AI to button

Step 3: Choose Your Editing Option

You can now choose from AI suggestions, or type your own edit instructions in like:

  • Change the background – replace with a new scene or colour

  • Add or remove elements – prompt the AI to add objects or clean up areas

  • Fix details – correct distortions, improve clarity or symmetry

Step 4: Apply Changes

  • Preview the suggested edits

  • Click Apply if satisfied, or re-prompt to refine the result

FAQs & Common Issues

Can I edit images that weren’t generated with AI?

  • No - currently, AI editing only works on images created using Gamma’s built-in AI image tool.

Can I undo my edits?

  • Yes! Use the undo button or press Cmd + Z (Mac) or Ctrl + Z (Windows) to revert changes.

Does image animation work in exports?

  • Animated images are viewable in live presentations but not supported in exported PDFs or PowerPoint files.

Will the image quality stay the same?

  • Image quality may change slightly based on the edit. Use higher resolution prompts for best results.
